Communicate

NXP Software’s voice enhancement products are based on advanced algorithms and technologies that incorporate decades of acoustic experience. They benefit from our knowledge of human hearing perception and the emotional impact of sound, as well as our technical expertise in voice reproduction on mobile devices.

Intelligibility

Natural, easy communication depends on intelligible speech. Everyone on a call needs to be able to hear the others clearly. And the caller needs to be heard without having to strain or shout.

Although simple in principle, enhancing intelligibility of voice calls in real-time is highly complex. Our voice modeling techniques allow us to identify and remove unwanted signals in a highly selective manner.

They remove echoes and suppress noise while maintaining the quality of speech – with a special focus on ensuring intelligibility in noisy environments such as railway stations or restaurants, including when using speaker mode.

We build these technologies into solutions for all major hardware / software platforms. Recently, we have pre-integrated our voice solutions with Android.

  • Stationary and non-stationary noise cancellation in noisy environments
  • Full duplex (far- and near-end) and echo cancellation for hands-free / speakerphone applications
  • Solutions for feature phones, smartphones and tablets
  • Enabling circuit-switched, VoIP and video telephony calls
  • Compliant with leading-edge operator requirements

Tuning to individual devices

The algorithms in our voice enhancement solutions were originally developed for constrained DSP platforms. Running on baseband or application processors in today’s smartphones, they deliver extremely high performance voice processing with no need for dedicated hardware (so offering optimal BOM cost).

Most importantly, we offer dedicated tuning for our voice solutions. Our voice enhancement solution can be optimally tuned for the acoustical design of the mobile device.

  • Software-only solutions – pre-integrated on most baseband processors and leading application processors
  • Tunable for optimal device performance
  • Support for 1- and 2-microphone devices

HD Voice

Mobile network operators are starting to introduce High Definition (wideband) voice calling to meet consumer expectations for better voice call quality. This migration to HD voice not only offers a higher bandwidth, which leads to increased voice clarity. It also results in better noise suppression and echo cancellation to enhance the overall end-user experience.

Our voice solutions offer full support for these new HD services for circuit-switched, VoIP and video calling use cases.
